Siqin Gaowa (ᠰᠡᠴᠡᠩᠭ᠋ᠣᠣ᠎ᠠ, Mongolian Cyrillic Цэцэнгуа, born 19 January 1950), born Duan Anlin, is a Swiss actress with a Han Chinese father and a Mongolian mother.
She was born in Guangzhou. Her father died early and she was brought up by her mother in Inner Mongolia.
She is married to musician Chen Liangsheng (陈亮声) since 1986 and currently holds Swiss citizenship together with her husband.

Siqin Gaowa Tries to Train her Daughter to Become An Actress
Sun Dan, Siqin Gaowa's daughter, was gifted enough to become an actress as a child. Siqin Gaowa was gratified with her daughter and hoped that she could become an actress. In 1986, Siqin Gaowa married Chen Liangsheng, a well-known Chinese musician of Swiss nationality. She and her daughter moved to Switzerland. In their new home, there were all kinds of musical instruments. Siqin Gaowa wanted her daughter to learn to play all of them.

Sun Dan felt quite antipathetic toward her mother's ideas. She was disgusted at the mention of musical instruments, but she enjoyed paper-cutting, embroidery and flowers. Sometimes she'd even prefer to cook for the family. Sun Dan and her mother quarreled again and again. When she was at home, Siqin Gaowa would watch her daughter play instruments. On purpose, Sun Dan would perform badly. Then, they argued with each other till Cheng Liangsheng came home. Chen would persuade Siqin Gaowa. "Sun Dan has grown up. You should respect her ideas," he said. "Don't order her to just do what you like." At last, the mother and daughter compromised.

After graduation from university, Sun Dan wanted to work in a foreign trade company in Switzerland. But Siqin Gaowa opposed the idea and ordered Sun Dan to take part in a short-term training class on performance in China. Half a year later, Su Dan did act in two TV series and received positive appraisals.

However, Sun Dan felt bored with performance. She thought it was a waste of time and life. Then, Su Dan told her mother. "I don't like to shoot TV series, but would rather go back to Switzerland to work." Days later, Su Dan left quietly.

Good to Live A Common Life
Siqin Gaowa went to Switzerland to ask Sun Dan if she'd return but failed. Sun Dan and her classmates went to France to work in a company. Siqin Gaowa and Sun Dan didn't call each other for more than a year because of their differences.

Sun Dan did well in France. She opened a Chinese restaurant there and it soon developed from a small business into a much greater one with more than forty employees.

In June 2005, Siqin Gaowa became very ill. Sun Da went to be with her mother and said to her: "I don't want to become a star as I am satisfied with my life now."

Siqin Gaowa at last realized she was wrong to order her daughter to do what she liked. She apologized to her daughter. Sun Dan also knew that her mother just hoped that she would have a good future.

In July 2006, Su Dan sold her restaurant in France and went to Beijing to open one, as well as to take care of her mother. They live happily together now. Siqin Gaowa said, "My daughter's experience enlightens me. Whatever one does, if she or he feels happy, then her or his life is successful."
